The Midwest CHP Application Center (MAC) was established in March 2001 for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The Center promotes the development and deployment of integrated systems that provide on-site electrical generation and also utilize the heat from the generation equipment to provide cooling and/or heating needs of commercial, institutional and industrial facilities.
Organizations
The organizations that work together
to achieve the mission of the MAC, include:
- Energy Resources
Center of the University of Illinois at Chicago [Go]
- Oak Ridge National
Laboratory [Go]
- U.S. Department

Energy Resources
Center
The Energy Resources Center (ERC)
is associated with the College of Engineering at the University
of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). The ERC is an interdisciplinary
public service, research, and special projects organization dedicated
to improving energy efficiency and the environment. It was established
in 1973 by the Board of Trustees as an approved Illinois Board
of Higher Education center with the mandate to conduct studies
in the fields of energy and environment and to provide industry,
utilities, government agencies and the public with assistance,

is a multi-program science and technology laboratory managed for
the U.S. Department of Energy
by UT-Battelle, LLC. Scientists
and engineers at ORNL conduct basic and applied research and development
to create scientific knowledge and technological solutions that
strengthen the nation's leadership in key areas of science; increase
the availability of clean, abundant energy; restore and protect
the environment; and contribute to national security.
ORNL also performs other work for the Department of Energy, including isotope production, information management, and technical program management, and provides research and technical assistance to other organizations.
