RAC Project Profiles

Project Profile Contents
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has established eight CHP Regional Application Centers (RACs) in selected regions of the country to facilitate deployment of CHP systems. Each RAC produces project profiles for the CHP installations in its region. For your convenience, this section of the website presents information on the project profiles developed by the MAC as well as other RACs (if available on their websites).

The project profiles constitute the following sections:

Quick Facts - Quick Facts provide the reader with easy to read facts about the site and installation. Much of this info is already contained within the two page write-up, but is brought into the Quick Facts section to allow the reader to see these facts “at a glance”. Example information contained in the Quick Facts section includes:

  • Site Location
  • CHP Equipment (type and quantity)
  • Generating Capacity (both electric and thermal)
  • System Efficiency
  • Installed Cost
  • Annual Savings (actual or estimated)
  • Simple Payback
  • Date System Started Operation
  • Other info as important to that site

Project Overview - This is the only other mandatory content section for all project profiles. This is the section that allows the reader to get familiar with the site, what type of facility is being discussed, possibly why CHP was considered, possibly who the design engineering firm was, who the sponsors were (if appropriate), and a description of the installed system.

Additional Sections - The additional section titles in the project profile vary depending on the type and depth of information available at the time of preparation. Sections on such topics as Financing, Economic Analysis, System Design / Configuration, System Performance, Benefits, Environmental Considerations, Lessons Learned, are all possibilities.
